NYC! We’re cooking at the James Beard House on Monday!

We’re headed to NYC!

Chef Barry Maiden and our trusty team have been invited to take the helm at the James Beard House for an event titled “South by Northeast: A Civil Creation”

On September 15, 2014 Barry and many of the Hungry Mother crew will be in New York City sharing their talent with the members and guests of the James Beard Foundation.  From the JBF Website:

“The James Beard Foundation’s mission is to celebrate, nurture, and honor America’s diverse culinary heritage through programs that educate and inspire.”

We are honored to have been invited to be a part of this mission and join the esteemed chefs that have cooked there before us.  There are still a few seats available, we hope that you can share the experience with us.  Tickets and more information can be found on the James Beard Foundation website:

Please Visit Eastern Standard Tonight for a Special Fundraiser

Our friends at Eastern Standard in Boston are holding a special fundraiser tonight.  They will donate all Late Night food sales to Dana Farber, in support of great friends and families affected by cancer. Please stop in and see them from 11pm – 1:30am, for the full late night menu and multiple specials.  (And help spread the word!)

OMG Red Velvet event this Tuesday at Flour Bakery

This Tuesday, 2/8/11, our pastry chef Rachel Polonsky will be showing off her ability to mix French technique with a Southern flair at a benefit for Lovin’ Spoonfuls … featuring 10 local chefs’ variations on a Red Velvet theme.  Come see what we’ve got going on as we hang out with folks from: The Chocolate Tarte, Flour Bakery, Poe’s Kitchen, SoCo Creamery, Sportello, Susu Bakery, Sweet Cupcakes, Union Bar + Grille, and Will Gilson … tickets and information are available at Signpost.com .

Nanci Cuesta, one of our employees, has organized a holiday gift drive at the restaurant. Working with The Home for Little Wanderers, Hungry Mother and Nanci will be coordinating the collection of gift cards and new items for donation to children and families throughout the Boston area. Items requested include sweatshirts, sports equipment, towels, and gift cards. For a complete list of items go to their website – www.thehome.org
